Beach Chairs Near the Surf 300x199 Looking Great for the Rest of This Summer

There is still plenty of Summer left to enjoy!

Even though June and July are gone, we still have August and September. Our legs and shoulders will still be exposed for the rest of the summer.  Not only do we still have to worry about shaving our legs, painting our toenails, assembling a decent summer wardrobe and making sure we dress for all weather, but we have to do it effortlessly. It’s enough to make anyone throw down their Fake Bake and start weeping. Stop your crying, girls. It’s easy to make a statement as you go back into  the office after your fabulous vacation this summer – and here’s how…

  • Preparation is everything. If you’re worried about the state of your legs, you still have time to do something about them. Wax, exfoliate, get a pedicure and ramp up your exercise routine. If you’ve put a few pounds on, stop panicking. A healthy diet and a few brisk runs (or power walks) every morning will help you shed any unwanted pounds and get your skin glowing again. Yes, you may not feel like pounding the pavement at 6am, but give your body (and your mindset) a chance – you’ll soon see the benefits! Have a treadmill in your bedroom serving as a clothes hanger? You have no excuse. Put away those clothes and jump on that “moving sidewalk” anytime you please to achieve the slim frame that you still have.

  • Bag your bag! Make sure that tattered old bag you’re using gets retired quick, fast and in a hurry. (I know it’s your favourite, but it is time to retire it, you know!) If you’re a fan of looking chic but casual, your best bet is to take advantage of the season end sales. Look for something that’ll fit your style (and wardrobe) now, yet can transition into the fall.  A canvas/leather bag is always a good bet for the summer and can transition well for those cooler fall days. Can’t find anything you like on sale? Try looking around local thrift stores and vintage shops for an appropriate bag that’ll stand up to all that summer can throw at it. Leather ages well, and will look awesome twinned with bare legs and gladiator sandals.

  •  Evaluate your Make-up. The dark smokey eyes and the even darker smudged lips may have been ravishing in previous seasons, but summer is in full swing, so it’s time to lighten up. Toss any make-up that you’ve had for over a year (mascara only last for 6 months anyway) and evaluate your current color choices. Shop around make-up counters in a department store to find your summer look or you can tap into the expertise of your Mary Kay Consultant. Your aim is to look fresh-faced and natural, so ditch the heavy powders and consider using a tinted moisturizer like Mary Kay® Tinted Moisturizer Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 20.  You get three great benefits with just one product– sheer, lightweight color; oil-free moisturization that lasts up to 10 hours; and UVA/UVB protection.

  • Hair today – and coiffed tomorrow. Don’t forget your tresses, ladies, and remember that if your “do” is looking more bewildered than bewitching; it’s time to get professional help. Make sure you have a thorough consultation with your stylist beforehand and it’s worth asking for a deep conditioning treatment, as the heat and humidity  can leach moisture from your hair. It’s always worth hunting through some magazines beforehand as well, so you will have a good idea as to what you want.

  • Clothes Horse Anyone? Be firm with yourself, and take a good, hard look at your current summer wardrobe. Think people won’t notice that you’ve worn the same Tee Shirt for the past five or six weeks? They most certainly will. Now is the time to hit the end of season sales and spend some of your hard-earned cash on a few summer staples that’ll see you through the rest of the season. Don’t forget to look at investing in a couple of pairs of sandals that’ll make sure you stay cool and stretch you footwear choices. Floppy hats always are a great choice for the August heat.

  • Skin-touchables. There is still time to think about your skin. Always make sure you’re wearing a lip balm with a high SPF, and make sure that you’re slapping on the sun screen every morning. You can still get burned on cloudy days, so make sure that you invest in a facial moisturiser like Mary Kay® TimeWise™ Age Fighting Moisturizer with SPF 30 to help you protect your face and will ensure that the sensitive skin on your face doesn’t suffer. You’ll also need a decent pair of sunglasses (squinting won’t help your skin) and don’t forget your hair (again). Sunlight on lovely locks may look charming, but it can be damaging, so it’s worth investing in some protecting spray that’ll keep your hair untarnished by the sun.

  •  Attitude Adjustments. Cheer up. You are still in the summer and there is still plenty to do. Consider seeing the sites in your “own back yard” or taking short mini vacations with your family, spouse or spice. You still have time before the “school season” begins. The trick is to find something relaxing yet exciting.  You really want something you can remember for those times when the weather gets cold and dreary and you need something pleasant to smile about.

So, there you have it. There is still time to enjoy summer; you just have to work a little to make it to fall. Then you really have to buckle down to your beauty routines.
